This was one of the most enjoyable tournaments I have attended at for
some time. High on sportsmanship and effort. Low on constant
questioning of refereeing decisions.

Southsea were the only team not to lose a game. The Halifax loss to Bury
came as a surprise to many, as results from previous tournaments
suggested only Southsea would give them any trouble. In fact, Halifax
did improve through the tournament and only a last minute goal from
Southsea denied Halifax the win they probably deserved.

In the sports hall next door during the day was a succession of other
sports, including a regional volleyball tournament. Coming away from the
roller hockey and watching these sports, it was as if the whole world
was suddenly running in slow motion. As a spectator sport you suddenly
realise that roller hockey has a lot more to offer than most. End-to-end
at real pace. Very high skill levels.
